NBA Summer League is in Vegas till 7/22.

Las Vegas Summer League begins at 1 p.m. PT on Friday and runs until July 22.  Single Day Pass $25.

Las Vegas Summer League is a loosely organized, guard-dominated, defense-optional series of scrimmages between NBA teams with rosters made up mostly of rookies, second-year players, undrafted players and players who are currently plying their trade overseas. It’s simultaneously a showcase for high draft picks entering their rookie seasons and an extended tryout for fringe NBA players who are hoping to fill out a roster on a minimum deal.

Twenty-one NBA teams and a D-League Select team will compete. The NBA teams are the Blazers, Bobcats, Bucks, Bulls, Cavaliers, Clippers, Grizzlies, Hawks, Heat, Kings, Knicks, Lakers, Mavericks, Nuggets, Pelicans, Raptors, Spurs, Suns, Timberwolves, Warriors and Wizards.
The nine teams not present — the Celtics, Jazz, Magic, Nets, Pacers, Pistons, Rockets, Sixers and Thunder — all competed in this week’s scaled-down Orlando Summer League.

Best time to Visit Vegas is Summer and December

Best time to Visit Vegas is Summer and December.

I agree it's very hot and crazy to go to Vegas during the summer time but the prices are cheaper than during the fall.  I did a search at Monte Carlo in July/August 2013.

See Monte Carlo rates in July/August 2013.  Temperatures reaches over 100 degrees.

Dec 2013 at Mgm Grand.  Its very cold in Vegas and the rates are cheaper than in Jan 2014.  Many of the casinos are decorated in holiday decorations.  Also, it's less crowded than during summer time.

See the rates at MGM Grand in Dec 2013.  It's very affordable.

Update Rooms are more common in Las Vegas

More and More Casinos have updated rooms in the last few years.  Pay little more for these rooms by including more in the resort fees.

Strip
MGM Grand-Grand Queen and Kings rooms were renovated rooms in 2012 w/ warm earth tones and contemporary designs.   Just pay little more for these rooms

Aria-All rooms are nice with high tech remote control to open curtains, lighting, and tv.  The decorating tones in the room are brownish (kinda dark). Opened in 2009

Vdara-All rooms are nice with dark decorating tones.  No double queen beds at all.  No smoke and walking distance to Aria and connected to Bellagio.  Opened in 2009

Bellagio-Bellagion Tower rooms are renovated in 2011.  It's more contemporary in design with bright colors.

Cosmopolitan-All rooms are nice with contemporary design.  Opened in 2010.

Caesar-Augustus, Forum, Octavius, Palace are nice and renovated with contemporary design and warm colors in 2010.  Just----Don't stay at Roman Tower (old rooms)

Palazzo-Some of the rooms are updated but other rooms need to be updated.  Overall the rooms bigger than Mgm or other casino rooms.  The rooms are 720 sq ft with open plan of living room and bedroom.  I think 6 or 7 people can sleep that room.  Opened in 2008.

Venetian-Valenzia Tower rooms are renovated recently.  Other towers are dated and need some work.  Opened in 2004

Wynn-rooms are 650 sq ft and opulent.  Opened in 2005.

Encore-all rooms are nice and opulent.  Opened in 2008.

Tropicana-Renovated Deluxe Rooms    New management started in 2011.

Harrahs-Madri Gras Tower are renovated with red hues. It was renovated in 2013. Opened in 1973.

Flamingo-GO rooms/Fab Deluxe rooms are renovated in 2009 with bright colors and ipod docking station.  Kinda modern.   Charge extra for these rooms.   Opened in 1946.

Circus Circus-West Tower was renovated in 2010.  It's more contemporary with taller beds and bright colors.  Pay more to stay at this tower.

Rio-Masterquade Tower is redesigned with Brazilian colors.  It was redesigned in 2013.  Opened in 1990.

Stratosphere-Premiere Tower and Stratopshere Select rooms were renovated in 2011.

Where to stay? Strip or Downtown or Off Strip

Where to stay? Strip or Downtown or Off Strip

Depending on your budget, you can stay anywhere-off the strip or on the strip.  There are plenty of "Off strip hotels or casinos", such as Double Tree, Marriott, LV Casino, Hard Rock Casino, Artisan Casino Hotel or Palms Casino, etc.

Downtown (Fremont Experience) is revitalizing with new restaurants and bars along with various casinos: Plaza, El Cortez, The Cal, Golden Nugget, etc.  Great place to people watch.  They have music concerts in the middle of Fremont Experience depending on the months.  Price varies.  Best to get a reward cards to save more money.

Strip-has changed so much over the last few years.  More casinos are more high end and offer variety of four or five star restaurants and shows.  Best to get a reward cards to save more money. Ranging from Mandalay bay to Stratosphere.
